We have Willy-N, off fighting fires away from home for extended periods of time. We have high line Electricans down in your neck of the wood.
We have son and daughters called up for active, reservist and guard duty, overseas.
I know next winter, when the Ice-storms hit, you'll(Floridians) help out by sending personnel this way. As bad as it is with out power, you probably have to deal with mosquitoes from all the rain.
When we have Ice-storms, it will knock out power for upto three to five weeks, with temperatures that can drop to -30*F to -50*F.
When power is restored alot of people call the plummer, then the carpenters, then the drywallers(sheetrock, guympsem board), painters, carpet layers, ect.
In today's society, many of the younger people, even engineers at work, do not plan for survival.
Having grown up on a remote farm, I still take precautions others think are extreme. It has kept me alive through several tough times.
