Imminent Domain by government/Sad, but true...

A true story: my in-laws lived near conservation
game reserve. Government offered to by their
farm for handsome price. After much soul-searching over how they built the farm over 40+
years into high production of crops, they refused. Did not do any good. Government claimed imminent domain. They got paid handsomely for their land, but it really bothered my mother-in-law terribly. My father-in-law said they couldn't do anything about it.
They got to keep their house, and some surrounding acres for yard.
