It is my sincerest hope that no one is led to believe I'm more sympathetic to one side over the other in this sad waste of human life. But, I know something about human nature and it's hard for me to believe that the killer went to the trouble to get a hunting license, drove to the area, took up a position in a tree stand and waited until someone came along so he could commit mass murder.
No, what I really think is that something happened out there on the day in question that was, at least to the shooter, something so unbearable as to have the impact of bombs dropping on Pearl Harbor. Now, you might say, how can I make such a comparison? Well, just remember, many of the good people here at Country Life have openly announced a high degree of anger toward the shooter. Why?
Just last year a hunter leveled a gun on my son and demanded that he get away from a deer. The hunter had fired at something in the brush but he was convinced that the deer in question was his Kill. But, the fact was, my son had brought the animal down with a bow. And the arrow was the only wound the animal received. If I had not come along when this confrontation was going down, who knows what would have happened. By the way, the man with the rifle was hunting out of season with a gun.
So, I've got this to say concerning this subject; there are hunters and there are sportsmen, As well as, Gentlemen and thugs. But, each is entitled to hold a license.
Now, I still don't know what caused this senseless killing. All I am sure of is that 6 people are dead and two more are wounded. And, if, and I repeat, if, this was as a result of some insult or threat from one human to another human, all I can say is what a pitiful waste. Just remember, some times a person can brag about telling someone a thing or two. But, sometimes it backfires. We'll probably never know the real truth about what happened there. But, People it's like Road Rage, some people act wild without thinking and I've got a feeling a good many people left their thinking caps home on the day in question.
At this point, the very best we can do is pray for the souls of the departed and for the comfort of the survivors.......gfp
