Having my first experience with ticks I asked my maillady what to do about the scratching. The country receipe they use here is 1 bottle rubbing alcohol (don't drink), add 24 aspirin (cheapest kind), a cake of camphor (get at pharmacy). Put aspirin in alcohol, grate camphor in alcohol, mix together and you have a $1.00 cure for whatever itches you. She has cattle and many a day she said she has been out feeding them and hit upon poison oak and this is the only remedy that she has found that works. Worth a try.
