A Good Man.

I have a 40 acre field that is away from my main farm that I rent out to a farmer who lives next door to it. He came over Friday to settle up for the year. I watched him struggle up the sidewalk with a big package. He brought me a big ham, 2 gallons of fresh milk, and 2 pounds of fresh-churned butter. This is one of those rocket scientist farmers with the college degree, GPS, radar, 16 row planter, and a 250,000 dollar combine. I guess I must of had a skeptical look on my face. He explained that with 4 little boys, he and the wife were going thru 1 1/2 gallons of milk a day, so they bought a milk cow. I just couldn't believe it. I thought milking one cow by hand was out of the question for a 3,000 acre yuppie farmer. Nope, him and the wife both milk and she went to an auction and bought a churn and makes butter twice a week. I just love it when my faith in the younger generation is restored! Jim.
