Tom turkeys are bad about spurring the hens too - 50 years ago we strapped canvas saddles on the hens to limit the damage. Preacher dropped in one nite and saw the saddles stacked in the rafters and asked Dad what those were? Dad just said "Turkey saddles" and the preacher said he had no idea they got big enough to ride! Well, somehow Dad managed to ignore that & keep a straight face but jeez the folks laughed about that for years!

If your rooster's as ornery as our old bantie was, it's getting to be soup time!
