The live traps work well. Over the years we have used one to trap about 30 feral cats. An elderly neighbor lady fed wild cats and when she died they dispersed all over the area. They bred and fought and were generally very unpleasant.

We use the same trap for skunks in the spring. Canned cat food works for both cats and skunks. I think that's where the caution to be careful of what you catch comes from! LOL

Of course, in the process of trapping all those cats we acquired another adorable pet. One day I walked out the front door with an open can of cat food, intending to put it in the trap and reset it, when a sweet little longhaired tortise shell cat met me on the porch, stood up on her back legs and begged for the cat food. I had never seen her before and she wasn't one of the feral bunch. We decided to keep her, which was one of the best decisions we've ever made. Even my husband loves her.
