Yeah, great story. Really makes the truckers look like fine upstanding citizens.
I was real proud of myself for the self restraint I was able to excersize when some of KL's finest were spewing their hateful venum about people who drive trucks but you managed to flush me out with this one.
In the past 20 years my trucks have been involved in 5 accidents:
#1. A guy in a CAR fell asleep at the wheel and tried to load it up on the beavertail of my trailer at 55MPH. (He got the ticket)
#2.A woman in a CAR ran a stopsign, pulled out in front of me...I had the truck almost at a dead stop and off the road when I nicked her right rear fender and spun her around...(Both the police officer and her husband complemented me on my defensive driving)
#3. I stopped at a 4 way stop, nobody around, proceeded through, was hit in the side by a CAR....moving fast enough to tear the front axle off the truck...he had alcohol on his breath.....
#4. I took off from a red light, got about 300' up the road to the next intersection and was hit from the side by a CAR whos driver had stopped at a red light and didn't realize that he was supposed to stay stopped until it turned green...(The police officer and I both got a chuckle when he tried to say I went by so fast that the suction from the truck pulled him under.......and you people say truck drivers are dumb!!)
#5. (And the most tragicly bizaar). A man attempted to rob a restaraunt, as he was escorted out the door he announced that he was going to go meet his parents...(who it was later discovered had been deceased for several years), and headed right for my truck head on. The CAR's speed was 80 with no skid marks, the TRUCK was 45 with long skid marks. The car cought fire and my driver had the fire out before the fire department arrived on the scene. The DOT officer in charge praised him ( that nasty uneducated power monger truck driver) for his quick reaction time, stressing that he had done everything in his power to avoid the accident.
In conclusion, I must say that there are some poeple out there driving trucks who have no business driving anything on a public road, but to judge us all by those few is just plaid BIGOTRY! (I was once accused of that on here by one of you fine people)
Now that I've got that off my chest, have a good day.
