Melanie, you are a perfect candidate. The school board is a great entry level into local politics. RUN FOR OFFICE, Run hard and very very loud. If you lose, start your next campaign the day after the election. It's a thankless job, but it needs to be filled by parents of students. Not hot heads but parents that can take an objective look at the needs of the students, and weigh them agains the load on the taxpayers.
If you can figure out what Starbucks sells, you can serve on your school board. LOL I'm not being a smarta** I really mean it. Start your campaign today. You've got legitimate questions, now put yourself where you can get the answers, and then give the answers.
