live trap is best. best bait is macaroni and cheese. take a large black garbage bag and cover the trap, this will keep whatever spray contained and allow you to move the trap away from you house. Shoot them before you open the trap. to clean the spray use this mixture. The odor is instantly gone. 1 quart of hydrogen peroxide - 1/4 cup of baking soda and 1 tsp of dish soap. works like a charm even takes the odor out of clothing. I've eliminated over a dozen skunks from my yard this way. so far this year.... none have come back.
