For the first 40+ years of my life, my family had an adversarial relationship with the forest service. We are pretty much surrounded by the White Mtn N.F. here. There were some very serious issues that they were not very forthcoming (read:truthful) about and some of their policies were just plain foolish. My father went to his grave with a justifiable mistrust of that organization.
But in the last 10 years or so, there seems to be a welcome shift in their attitude. They are very willing to be cooperative now rather than being a stumbling block. The change is refreshing.
Now if the NH Fish and Game Dept. would undergo a similar transformation, we'd be making some real progress.
