A story for those aboard the NS train

This weekend my 38 year old friend and his wife and 16 month old daughter received news that my friend's father in law had been rushed to the hospital because a disc in his spine ruptured so violently that it damaged the spinal cord leaving him with no feeling on his left side and little on his right. The next day my friend, who is on medication for high blood pressure, had a series of fainting spells. He fell and tore tendons in his foot leaving him essentially incapacitated for at least a couple of weeks. I feel for his wife who was going through h#ll with her fathers situation and now has to maintain her household, deal with her fathers injury, keep her mother sane and help keep her father and mothers snowmobile/tractor business running without the help of her husband who is incapacitated because he SMOKES. I always give him a hard time about his smoking but when I saw him yesterday I let him have it like never before. We've been friends for thirty years but I think if he could have reached me he would have smacked me. But he couldn't reach me because he SMOKES.

Just remember when you get the urge to light one up, It's not about YOU. It's about those who love you and NEED you.

Sorry for the rant.
