I have one even better. I have two tree huggers in my area so I did the following.
I put approx 10 lbs of triple 15 fertilizer on the each tree monthly. I also did deep deep deep root watering. Three years later the trees had grown(trees had grown at least five times normal) and with the seasonal winter (souther California) wind gusts ALL watered trees had blown over do to the large canopy that had grown. This is my version of fighting fire with fire.
