I checked the pH (I have a meter at work) of normal Vinegar and it showed to be at about 2.2 pH. I then added the salt to the mixture and the pH dropped to 2.05. So even though the salt is alkaline, it must either be a catalyst or it is absorbing the moisture and making the Vinegar more concentrated (acidic). This was done with normal store bought (cheap) White Vinegar (normal 5% concentration). This is probably why salt is added to the formula. Another thing, the only thing that brought up the pH was the dish soap. It brought up the pH about .05 after it was added.
