Used to breed boxers, chihuahuas, beagles and rotweilers. Gestation period, by the book, is approximately nine weeks. But from my experience it could be somewhere between the 58th day to the stated term. I used to start taking the bitche's temperature from the 50th day onward. Normal temp is about 101F. When the temperature plunges to close to 98F, you know that the puppies will be whelped within 24 hours. Again, this can vary, but it gave me an idea as I always wanted to help out. I had to run once to the vet in the middle of the night cause one of the chihuahuas needed a c-section. If I had been sleeping, she would have died, she had 8 pupies!
I made some good money but was always sorry to let them go.
