Yeah the problem comes up with snowmobiles too.
Thing is it doesn't have to. My '70 Ski-Doo right now gets 20:1 conventional oil. If you idle it for a minute it leaves a black oily spot on the snow. Thats only going to last until this next can of mix gas is gone and I'm convinced the rings have seated good, then it goes over to Amsoil synthetic mixed at 60:1. I use that in all my other machines, no smoke, no drips.
The Blue Marble stuff I haven't used but apparently its a food grade oil that doesn't leave "the sheen" like you mentioned.
