Monica- I passed along what looked like an interesting formula and got no personal experience with it (yet).

Vinegar is acidic (acetic acid) and shifts the pH of the surface of whatever it is sprayed on to where stuff can't live there. Strong salt applications also mess up the living conditions. Both biodegrade into the environment and do not persist. The dish soap is a surfectant that helps the stuff penetrate into whatever the solution is sprayed on. When absorbed into a plant, or insect, the stuff kills 'em!

Suggest you give it a try as something to rinse your brocoli and get rid of yucky stuff living there.

Taking that a bit further, I make up pickled raw veggies with a 50% vinegar and 50% water and a heavy dose of table salt solution. I'm still waiting to figger out how long stuff preserved that way will keep at room temperature.

Give it a try and please post your findings so we'll all know. Grins, IHank
