I went to a friends dads place one day, to help with making sausage. The Amish men came to kill and butcher the pigs. And, they brought a sausage stuffing machine, powered by a diesel engine, single cylinder type. It all went along quite well, and they did good work. Seemed friendly enough. Somebody brought them in a van, then took them back home afterwards.
And, one time down east in
Pa., i helped a Mennonite fellow fix his car, it had a broken battery cable. After i got it done, he offered to pay, but i didn't ask for any money. He seemed quite grateful.
A friend who lived in Mennonite country, was a big fellow, wore wire rimmed glasses, had a beard, and wore farmers clothes, but drove a car with chrome bumpers. He said the local mennonite minister would always shake his head, when he'd see my friend in his car, with chromed bumpers, and he'd get a good laugh out of it!
