In my area of Eastern Washington, the service berry bushes are just starting to bloom and if I remember my college botany correctly, we have 2 species around here. They are pretty showy for a week or two each spring and are very common on the hills around Spokane. Their fruits are edible, but I didn't think they tasted very good when I tried them years ago.

I would bet your local county agent or the biology department of a local college could tell you what the bush is. Good luck!
