I grew up in a town where it's not at all uncommon for familys to have at least 10 kids...now the next generation there are avg around 4 to 6....costs and times being as they are, are slowing them down...

Jennifer's family had 12
Doris's family had 11
Pauls's family had 13
Joe's family had 11
Mark's family had 10
Susan's family had 11
and it goes on and on......it was so odd for me to go spend the night and be a part of such a big noisy crowd...in Doris's family they had two big dinning room tables shoved together...and chairs for everyone...it was mandatory to eat as a family...i remember their mom had a number system for all the underware....even numbers for the girls, odd for the boys...and clothing was in a room...just clothes in it...the night before you'd go in and pick what you'd wear the next day..Everyone had a job to do too...right down to the little ones...there was a lot of big gardens, home sewing classes, canning and 4 H projects....Hand me downs? sure...saturday trips to the library...and sunday was church. It seamed like the larger the family the better they got along too.
