Mel, my mother raised 9 and experienced 2 still births. She taught us all how to help out with the house and farm work at an early age. She cooked on a Home comfort Wood stove and grew her garden. Also, she preserved enough food stuff to last more than a year. All of this and still found time to run foot races and play baseball with us kids. She lived to be 86 and would have probably lived longer but she missed my dad who had died 3 years earlier at 83. .......gfp
