That works too. I just really don't like the idea of getting them started on the puppy pads. Mom trained Tia for the lady who had her before us and we babysat her. She was trained as I said above and did great. BUT then she went back to the family and they decided to use puppy pads with her. Now we have her permanently and we don't use the pads but she thinks that any rug in the house is a potty pad. She does fine if we are home because she goes out when Tucker says he has to go. So there usually aren't any accidents during the day, but at night she has to go in the crate because if left out, she will go straight to Ma's bathroom rug. Tucker on the other hand we trained from a pup. He does great. NO ACCIDENTS. He has never been in the crate at night or while we were gone. (Except for when Tia was in heat, he'd get mad if we locked her in without him.) He gets to be out all nite. When he has to pee in the morning he just pounces on mom's or my head! His method usually works.
