Monday took 3 five gallon fuel cans to the gas station. Filled with diesel. Pump quit at $75.00. And that was just before the last jump in fuel prices. I'm sure I can't harvest the hay any more fuel efficiently than I did last year. 9,000ft baler twine topped $40 a bale this year. If I put up the same number of bales this year, I can't cut my twine consumption. My costs are going to be up dramatically. Buy any fertilizer lately? That cost me over twice last years' price. I can't afford to fertilize hay ground this year. That's gonna cut into production fer sure. I don't want to sell higher, but I won't be able to sell at last year's prices... I'll store it in the barn first!
