I got ambitious and put in 4 tomatoes, 4 peppers and 4 brocolli plants on Monday. It's a bit early, but I figured I could cover them if needed. Tuesday night it got about 10 degrees colder than the forcast. Weather guessers said it "cleared up" more than expected and the temp dropped like a rock (28). The brocolli may have survived, the rest did not. The radishes are starting to sprout, at about 10 days, the onion sets are finally doing something, but the peas are still asleep. We are having one cold, slow spring! Probably will do a flip and we'll have 90-100 degree weather in a few weeks. I plan on planting sweetcorn and potatoes this weekend, but I'll hold off the the bulk of the rest for a few more weeks. May 31st is our last "freeze" date. Though this is the first year I've lived here that we've had a frost this late in the spring - only year I tried starting things early too LOL!! Son and In-laws are on the way over. Son took a flight into Twin Cities and they are all driving out here, and then son will be driving back to GA with a friend and in-laws will head back home. Biggest problem is that Hubby will not be home the whole time, so I'll have to "entertain" all by myself. And I wanted to paint! I need to mow the yard too - the cool wet weather isn't hurting the grass any. Hay fields look nice too. Cathy
