I don't think that this forum is the place to debate these theological concerns, but I felt that I needed to give you another viewpoint. The Bible, in I Corinthians 10:32 charges us "Don't give offense to Jews or Gentiles (unbelieving humanity) or the church of God." (New Living Translation) There is clearly a distinction between the three. When we confuse the three then we muddle our understanding of the Scriptures. When God said "Israel" He meant "Israel." Where it is called the "Church" it is referring to true believers (the Church) in this age. Jesus clearly indicated in Acts 1:6-8 that Israel's kingdom was not cancelled out by rejecting Him, just postponed until a future time. To make the modern day church the continuation of OT Israel does smell a bit of anti-semitism. I recommend that you read through the Bible again and let the literal interpretation of scripture be your guideline. The Golden Rule of Interpretation is this:"Where the plain sense of Scripture makes common sense seek no other sense, lest it result in nonsense." He was literally rejected and crucified. He literally died. He was literally raised. He will literally come again. God's promises to OT Israel will literally be fulfilled. Why do we depart from a literal interpretation of these events (promised in the OT) which are verfied historically and spiritualize all of the promises made to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob? Read it again, prayerfully, thoughtfully and with a literal interpretation. The modern day state of Israel is a miracle. I take a group of people there every couple of years. I started in 1978. What we are seeing is prophecy being fulfilled before our eyes. Jesus Christ is Lord and one word of prophecy cannot go unfulfilled. Matthew 5:18 Enough said.
