so you figured out what a lead sled is . well the only thing the F-104 was good for was boring holes in the sky . our unit was supposed to get F-104s and i went to denver co for training on the gattlin gun and to chincotie naval base va for training on the sidewinder missile but the new aircraft was canceled . one gun and 2 missiles was all the armament the F-104 carried . if you took the six barrels off the gattlin gun it looked like a automatic transmission . six barrels and six bolts all rotating in the main housing , a cam groove inside the main housing ran the bolts back and forth . i guess still the fastest gun ever made .not self powered as all other machine guns required elec or hydraulic power unit to operate it
