No. Though gas stations may be resetting pumps to cheat costumers, if a pump has been reset, the price as well as the quantity will both show a proportional value. If the price is $3.50 and you have pumped 10 gallons the meter will read $35. You may not have 10 gallons, but the cost meter will still reflect what the quantity meter states. A better method of verifing what a vender is sell as one gallon of gas is to take a one gallon container to the pump, and fill it with exactly one gallon. I'm sure that you follow what I am saying. The one gallon mark on your gas can should show that your can reached one gallon at exactly the same time that the meter shows that you have reached one gallon. If your test shows less than a couple cents difference, though, don't panic. Your one gallon mark could be off by $.02. Check a few stations to ensure that your one gallon mark is true, before coming unglued if the difference is minute.
