Very efficient killers of fish, in a farm pond or lake they can be devastating. They migrate up from the nearby river, into streams and trace our stream back to the dam. Once in they can really deplete the fish. This has probably been the worst restoration as far as the farmers are concerned. Can't keep them in the rivers. It is permissible to kill them if they cause a nuisance; any otter in a lake is a nuisance. I found the head of about an 8 lb. channel cat they had killed this spring.
