Your ideas are good, as far as they go. Canning is a good idea if you grow what you can. Look at the prices of say a case of fruit at Cosco. Now to can it yourself you have to buy the fruit,(unless you grow fruit) buy the sugar,and buy the jars. Do the math. Make bread ahead and freeze it. I am not a lover of bread machines. Buy fresh fruit and vegies when in season, freeze them. I had three freeezers when I had to break up housekeeping. We and another family found a farmer who raised beef and pork the old fashioned way for eating,we bought one of each. between us. We wraped our own, which cut the cost some more. That was such good beef,can't get that kind in a store. I am a 'town person' so don't have home grown anything anymore. I still can some things when in season, but for one??how much tomato sauce do you need.
