Come on now. The "good old days" aside, loans and credit are how we do things TODAY. If you do well, it's called an investment, if you do poorly it's called foolishness. We invest in owning homes because very few people can buy a home outright today. We invest in education because education is the ultimate liberator. We invest in automobiles so that we have access to more than we can get to on foot. There is nothing wrong with this.

We don't save money. This is not good. But we can't throw out the baby with the bathwater.

And don't despair about me. I came to this country, got an education, had a bicycle and an apartment, got a car and a better apartment, bought a house, sold a house, bought some land and built a house, went back to school for more education. So I have debt; mortgage, student loan, credit cards. I'm not complaining. I can adapt and learn to do things better or more effectively. I seek the guidance and counsel of others because not one of us knows EVERYthing.

I'm not spoiled, thanks.

Paula
