It is not that hard to make a rope basket from a lariat rope. I have been doing it as a business for 7 years. You dont need a pot or anything to go around to get your design. Mine are all free hand shapes. Poly ropes do not hold together that well. It takes alot of practice. And each one turns out different. I do baskets,mirrors,picture frames,wall sconces, lazy susans anything is worth a try.
