Well we are not French, but outsiders to this small town area, town population is 356. We live outside of town.
We are well accepted now, but were treated nice but with a wary eye until the locals saw that we weren't here to cause trouble, criticize, complain, or change the area.
Look to join a local non denominational church if you don't like organized religion, buy local, don't complain about smells , dogs barking etc.
Use local customs, stores, restaurants and above all don't criticize a local family or persons cause they will be related to the person you are complaining to.
Political affiliation doesn't really matter to most local people but if it come to a fight to save the town you will be better of to side with the majority than to fight it.
DO NOT tell us HOW Y'ALL DID IT BACK THERE.
You will find most people in small towns are happy people who just want to be themselves and live their lives without any interference from other and they will extend that right to you also.
