Lets see, just about all laserjets are the same, the II, III and IV are all very very similar.
As I remember theres a door in the top. I found some pictures on eBay. So it looks like (and as I remember) in front of where the paper gets spit out of theres a door that opens upward.
Open that up and inside theres the black (sometimes grey) toner cartridge. Grab on in the middle and pull up and back.

Oh, hint, wear clothes that can get dirty when you do this!

Okay the cartridge should slide up and back and out of the printer, notice the motion its made, the new one will make exactly the opposite as it goes in.
The instructions should show you if theres a pull tab or something on the cartridge you've got to take off before you put it back in.

Its actually pretty simple. Just make sure you put your new one in the same direction as the old one came out.
