My pullets are about the same age as yours. I have been looking at two of them and wondering... one is a barred rock, and the other one is a Rhode Island Red. They have combs that are larger and a lot more red then the rest of the hens... I also noticed that the tails on these are different. That the feathers curl in instead of being straight. Hmmm. So, I had my mom take a look and sure enough I have 2 roosters! I am very happy about this!
I have had some people say that their chicks will start crowing at a young age. These never did.
Too funny.
Now my nephew's barred rock hen [a free 2002 easter chick!] has a barred rock "husband" LOL
