When Dad/Uncle/Mom had to Stop the Car...

Weren't those the scariest moments in your life as a kid? I remember having an uncle that threatened that. Cousins straightened up immediately.
I can remember our 3 girls sitting in the back
seat, all get to jabbering. Then it would escalate to bickering or just meaningless nonsense. I can remember my husband saying "I'm going to stop this car!" They would shut up. (The funny part is--I would have to remind my husband to actually pull over and stop as he would be swerving (in our lane). Don't keep driving when you've had enough.
The only thing that ever worked for me with
the three girls was to stop the car and say
"who wants to walk home"? (This was the boonies,
5 miles from nearest village, 16 miles from home.
Dead silence every time.)
