How to skin a snake?

No, this is a country post. I happened to witness a copperhead snake commit suicide just West of my house on the gravel road. (Just cause I had a canoe paddle in the back of my truck does not make me a suspect). He is in a ziplock bag in my shop refridge. My question is how to preserve the skin. I did one years ago using a tanning solution and glycerine. A lot of the scales came off over the years.

Any ideas?
