Our house was built about 7 years ago. The owners didn't have the chimney go tall enough so when its windy the wind blows smoke into the house. I know a taller chimney is the right way to go, but it would have to be braced and I'm not thrilled about putting holes in a roof. How well do those directional caps work? Especially after a few years and rust sets in. Would a plain cap work? Nothing kills a romantic evening in front of a fireplace quicker than getting smoked out of the house!LOL mojo
