Like Terry said, mine are on the output side of the pressure tank, not the well side.

I have two filters, plumbed in series. I put a coarse (30 or 50 micron) sediment filter in the first one, and then a finer filter (5 or 10 micron) in the second...I've found that they last quite a bit longer that way.
