Hi Gene. The cracklins for cornbread is the small pieces that float to the top of the grease when you render lard. I hope i am getting this right. Has been about fourty five years since i saw it done. I bet that the dog feed was the pork skins after they had rendered the lard out. It isn't the heart healthy way to eat but it is good in cornbread. Have a good evening. Archie
