Woke up this am to no hot water. Seems the copper pipe sprang a pin hole leak and drenched the water heater causing the thermostat to short and the circuit breaker to flip. We explained to everyone that we were going to turn the water off, get your mornin' business done before 8:00 am. So after taking the cold shower my wife often says I need, I turn off the water. Well, after we adults leave for work, Senior 15 yr-old-knows-a-darn-awful-lot-more-than-adults, not only decided to turn the water back on but he also takes it upon himself to flip the circuit breaker to the water heater. Well all the wires start going snap, crackle pop, and suddenly Mr. Chicken-manure decides it's unsafe to stay in the house and runs out without flipping the breaker off. This am, I just needed a new thermostat, a fifteen dollar job. Now, all the wires in the water heater are fried and the basement has an extra four inches of water that wasn't there this am. In addition, the smell of burnt plastic has permeated throughout all the house including the clothes in the closets. I'm gonna think real hard about a fitting punishment. Any suggestions?
