from where I live is in jail right now for chaining her two sons thirteen and fifteen, to their beds while she worked the night shift. Her reasoning was the fact that the boys were sneaking out of the house at night and getting into mischief and this was her last resort to keep them at home and in check.

What do you think her punishment should be? The dad was at home when all this occured. Was she wrong and why?

My opinion.....besides being barbaric, it is not an effective kid management tool, obviously. I think the family needs help, but I'm not so sure that she needs to go to prison. Naturally there is the threat of fire or some other dangerous event that they may not be able to escape from, but barring that, what's the difference between this type of confinement or 'jail' later on in life from running around getting into mischief all night?
