You're right Aprille, it's NOT good for the animals. But we've never had rain like this in the three years that we've owned our farm. Normally the drainage isn't too bad, but the soil just can't absorb anymore water, and our paddock is flat, as it's supposed to be, so it becomes a lake of mud when you get two solid weeks of rain. Next spring, I'll put several lines of drainage tile in the paddock, but I can't do anything now. I did put some plywood out in the worst areas, the horses soon figured out to use these bridges over the goop.
