I first bought a Poulan because it was what I could afford and I'd heard bad news about McCulloch. I've operated Poulan chainsaws since 1988 -15 years - and only started using my second Poulan - a 2150 - 8 years ago. It's still going strong, and I have another unused 2150 drive unit as backup. The first Poulan was a 2010 (?) and it was put to all sorts of uses. Designed to run 300 hours max, it finally gave out after more than 400 hours (est). The 2150 is good both to start and use. It handles upward, horizontal and rip cutting just fine, and is really good for stumping because it can cut to within 1/2" of the ground. I do not use the Poulan for hours on end, and I try not to abuse it with work for which it was not designed. My only criticisms would be bar quality, an over-sensitive chain brake, and clogging of the chain drive/lube area (but that could be the fault of the chain lubricant). When the Poulan bar wears out, replace it with a reputable alternative brand. Any reputable chain brand works fine on the Poulan.
