Brought back memories. We had an old brindle milk cow among others. I had to milk a cow every night and morning from the time I was about 10 till I left home for Fort Jackson, S.C. in '65. I can remember sitting on the stool and leaning against the cow to keep warm in the winter and thinking that she sure was nice to let me lean on her. When I would get up from the stool, the cow would almost fall over because she was leaning against me also. The worse thing that could happen while milking was to have the cow slap you in the face with a messy tail. Next worse was when she would step in the bucket of milk. Mama never, ever liked to have us come to the house with no milk. She depended on it to feed her 10 hungry younguns. Memories!!
