My slow cooker is a West Bend, oblong metal pot with a glass lid. You can dial 1-8 (I think 8 is highest) for temp, but I put it on 2-1/2 (halfway betwixt 2 and 3) for everything I cook, casseroles, chili, stews, etc. (The manual gives approximations of temps for each number setting but since I don't use but the one setting, I don't know how high or low it goes without doing research).It's an excellent brand of cooker.
