Okay so Sam Walton was a great big jerk. He had a marketable idea and he went for it and even though he is now dead, he employs in the neighborhood of 800,000 people just in the US alone and his family will never want for a thing.

What WAS he THINKING!?

It's called free enterprise. He started out with one store and people liked him better and they bought from him. Back then he was competing with Woolsworth and Walgreens and The Five and Dime. His plan was to offer EVERYTHING in one place. Not to undercut the competition. What made Sam Walton rich, was offering convenience. The b*stard. Shame on him.
