I noticed you mentioned Subarus in the first comment string... an old girlfriend and I had a 98 Subaru Forester AWD, and while the thing could get through damn near any trail we took it on, or plow straight through snow like crazy, it just didnt sit up high enough. The clearance was very good 8-10" from what I remember, but the biggest tires i could squeeze in there were 225/70/15, and that was againt every tire sellers judgement. matter of fact i had to have my brother mount and balance them cause the tire manager at sears refused to do it. Now I've got an '87 F250 and it's the best truck i've ever had. while it's only a 2x4; between the mass and bein' geared so low it can pretty well move through, up or around anything.
